Iran's Reza Naji won the best actor award in Berlin Film Festival!

That is unbelievable!

Imagine this is the closing ceremony of Berlin Film Festival and every body is waiting for Daniel Day-Lewis to go to stage and collect the award, all the cameras are zooming at him but there is a surprise: The Actor Award goes to Reza naji!!!

What a night!


The not so famous Iranian actor who is more into artistic cinema won the heart of the competition by his portrait of a long-suffering father in Iranian director Majid Majidi's "The Song of Sparrows". Reza Naji plays Karim, who loses his job on an ostrich farm and then falls into working as a motorcycle taxi driver in Tehran as he struggles to make ends meet.

The actor said:
"I got along with my role in this movie pretty well, because I had thoroughly studies the film script in advance and I was very familiar with the geography and anthropology of Tehran, so I faced no problem while acting out my role."

Also 19 years old Hana Makhmalbaf, the daughter of Iranian famous artist Mohsen Makhmalbaf won two awards including the prestigious Peace Award for her new movie called "Buddha collapsed out of Shame" about Afghanistan and the famous Buddha Statue which was destroyed by the previous regime.


It was a great night for Iran and Iranian cinema in Germany.
