My Blueberry Nights

I watched the latest Wong Kar-wai masterpiece 3 times in just one week and I am really amazed by all the fantastic ideas. Or better to say I had so many blueberry moments with this movie and to be honest I have no idea how we are supposed to make movies while geniuses like him are still alive and not surprisingly they are doing very well.
I found Wong Kar-wei by "Chungking Express" then "In the Mood for Love" following by "2046" which the last one forced me to stay in bed due to depression for about a month! And then I got "My Blueberry Nights" a few days ago and I knew it was going to be unique and special and it absolutely was.

"My Blueberry Nights" is about Elizabeth who sets out on a journey after a break up and we follow her by reviewing her memories and at the same time her current relationships with others. And I gotta tell you that the story line and generally the story of this movie is really strong and well organized.
I have another reason to be happy here because the Iranian international cinematographer, Darius Khundji has done a superb job as the director of photography. Plus one of my favorite musicians, Nora Jones has had her debut here in world of acting.
But over all the stars of this movie are Wong Kar-wai and Lawrence Block who their fantastic screenplay overshadows anything else in the movie and you sometimes forget about all the other elements and follow the story.
"My Blueberry Nights" is really moving. As moving as so many fantastic films which I have watched in my life. But there is something special here that forces you to watch the movie again and smoke again.

No Country for Old Men

Oh man! Shit!
This was my first reaction when the movie finished and we were mute for a few minutes and again Shit...
No Country for Old Men certainly deserved all the numerous awards including the 4 Oscars and it was arguably the best movie of 2007.

West Texas, 1980s and a crime thriller about three men crisscross each other paths which very much is the same as Fargo's theme, and you know Joel & Ethan Coen won a few Oscars for that one as well back in mid 1990s.
Anyway the two intellectual brothers has come back with one of the most nerve racking movies of our time and God knows how much this shit is powerful. The wonderful group of actors, the very detailed adapted screen play, the very unique way of directing and over all of them the editing of the movie helped this movie becoming one of the highly praised movies of recent years.

No Country for Old Men is around 2 hours but the very smart way of its editing helped movie a lot. It looks that you are watching a 200 hours movie but it helped movie to generate its story step by step and when it is done, you do not know what to do. The ending is very unexpected.
This movie appeared in Top 10 list of almost all critics around the world last year, more than any other film. Which is somehow makes it clear for you that you have to go and watch this masterpiece.

The First Iranian Female Bus Driver

Although I know it sounds weird talking about this but to those friends who are not Iranian I should say it is a big deal! It is really a big deal in there.
For the conservative society which has not given that much chances to women during the twenty something years of Islamic Revolution, this could be a huge opportunity.
This Video has been added for a while and while I do not live in Iran, I am so amazed by the people's points of view especially women who seem to want more opportunities.
People of Iran especially young adults and teenagers have changed a lot and tried to change the perception of other nations about a Muslim country but at the end of the day the Conservatism is there.
I take this one as a huge step to be closer to the equality of both sexes.
Cheers

An Australian Incest

An Australian man has become father and grandfather at the same time!
Australian Channel Nine's 60 minutes program revealed an interview with John and Jenny Deaves who by the way are parents of nine months old Celeste.
Well I was kinda shocked but when I watched the interview I was like so impressed by their loves and respects although we believe "Incest" is illegal.
They reunited with each other in 2000 after almost 30 years, for the first time and had one child who died in 2001 after a few days, but fortunately Celeste does very well.

Jenny, 30, said in the interview that she had tried to find his long lost father but when they met each other, instead of father and daughter relationship they fell in love...and surprisingly as their previous marriage were disastrous, they became intimate. She said she saw John as a MAN first and her FATHER second.

Mr Deaves who is 61, shared in the interview that he knew that the sexual relationship was illegal:
"I knew it was illegal, of course I knew, but you know, so what," He said.
The couple were placed on a good behavior bond for three years by local court and the condition means that they do not have sex anymore. And by the way they are being monitored for obvious reasons.

You can watch the interview with them here:
