Oscar 2008: The most boring ever!

Well it has been a few days and we already knew who won the gorgeous statue but to be honest it was the most boring ever Academy Award Ceremony and the lowest viewers of all time. Even all the super fantastic political and non-political jokes of the host, Jon Stewart could not help the Oscars.


But on the other hand we have to mention that the Writers Guild's strike had its effects on the ceremony and all the preparations. Before the Oscars they caused the cancellation of the Golden Globe Awards and a few more ceremonies and ...

Surprisingly everything this year was fair. Even the Oscar for Best Actress in Leading Role which went to French actress, Marion Cotillard, according to my friends who have watched her movie was completely expected.


The very expected award for Best Actor in Leading Role went to himself, Daniel Day-Lewis who his towering performance in There Will Be Blood is absolutely unique and perfect. I have watched the movie and I am going to write about it in my next post.


And the winners of this year were Coen Brothers with four Oscars in their pockets for No Country For Old Men. The intellectuals made the history by winning four statues in one night for this movie.


And I am so glad that here, 71% of us were agree with the members of the Academy for the best picture which went to No Country For Old Men. And I thank you all for joining me in this.

Paris, I Love you!

I watched Paris, I Love You or better to say Paris, Je T'aime recently and some episodes of this episodic movie are really fantastic.
Among the filmmakers who have done well I probably should mention Ethan & Joel Coen, Alfonso Cuaron, Tom Tykwer and some more.


The movie is about love, relationship and human being in a neighborhood in Paris in 20 episodes from International directors and to be honest the different point of views here is very obvious.


Actually I am not fan of Paris that much and I do not believe that the city is City of Love but this movie is really great.

In my opinion and also my friend's, Tom Tykwer's episode is the best of the Paris, I love You. The German genius director of Run Lola, Run proves here that he is one of the best in the business.


I hope that you will find the time to watch this long, fantastic artwork.

Persepolis won the Cesar for best Animation

The Iranian born French director of The Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi won the Cesar Award for the best Animation of the year at the French Oscar last night.


Marjane had won the Jury Award at Cannes film festival for the same movie and she is currently in Los Angeles to be at Oscar Ceremony, Monday morning in Malaysian time.
The Persepolis is based on her Comic book -the same title- which is the story of her childhood and has won lots of awards all over the world.


The main theme of the Comic book is about her childhood in Iran around the Islamic Revolution time and then continued with her immigration to Europe to study and ...
Not surprisingly both movie and book have been banned in Iran.
It is really difficult to win the Oscar tomorrow while you have animations like Ratatouille as your competitor but all my prayers go for her.

Goodbye Fidel!

Fidel Castro, the leader of Cuba announced his retirements today after ruling the country for almost half a century.

The ailing Cuban leader who is recovering from his stomach surgery is 81 years old. His retirements welcomed by US president George W. Bush who certainly is less popular than the Fidel.

Most likely his brother and currently Defense Minister of Cuba, Raul Castro will succeed him who is around the same age! Just 76 years old!


In his letter of resignation Fidel has said:
"To my dear compatriots, who gave me the immense honor in recent days of electing me a member of parliament ... I communicate to you that I will not aspire to or accept -I repeat not aspire to or accept- the positions of president of the Council of State and commander-in-chief"

Like him or hate him, Fidel Castro has been one of the world most charismatic leaders. His long speeches which have been most of the times against US Presidents are really famous.

And at the end of the day, here, I hope a better days for all Cuban in future.
